Solo and Ensemble Information Here are the basics on participating in LMEA Solo and Ensemble in District IV. If you want to do a solo and ensemble event at your school, there are just a few things you need to do. First, pick the date that you want your event. If you want the district director to hire your judge, I need at least a month notice in advance. There will be a deadline for entry in the Calendar Issue of the Louisiana Musician, but if you are organized, you can do Solo and Ensemble at any time of the year. Once you have a date, you must send me a completed entry form, with a check attached made out to LMEA for $5.00 per student per event. For example, if a student is in an ensemble and is playing a solo that student owes $10.00. If you are securing the judge, you simply fill out a reimbursement form and give that to me, and I will pay your judge. The next thing to do is let me know how many medals you need for the groups and solos that made superior ratings. I will get those to you as soon as I can. I am putting all the forms that you will need on this page including rating sheets in Word format. You can merge the names into a word document and print out individualized judges sheets if you want. I have also put the same forms in MS Word format so that you can type into them using a computer.
